About Me

My name is Janie Eyre-Brook and I live in Oxfordshire in the beautiful Vale of The White Horse. I have always been fascinated by animals and feel that a house without pets of some sort is not really “a home”.

I was given my first kitten when I was five years old – a tabby girl who I immediately named “Davy Crockett” and haven’t looked back. I have many years experience breeding a variety of animals from cattle and sheep to baby chicks. When not practising my Bengal maternity skills or going to cat shows, I find time to walk my little Westie, look after my varied collection of pure bred chickens and wrestle with the rampant vegetation in my exuberant cottage garden.

So far my life has been very interesting and varied. Following twenty years as a farmer, I became a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. So if any of you lovely people out there were married by me or if I registered your baby – Hi! However, the downside of being a Registrar was that it meant working at the weekend leaving me very little time for hobbies or pets.

But after a serious illness and nearly a year of treatment I decided it was time for a life change. Shortly afterwards Smartie, my charming Westie arrived, quickly followed by a variety of pure bred hens. All I needed now was a cat. I decided I wanted a pedigree but which breed to choose? Purely by chance I read about Bengals and I was hooked. Bengals are the most extraordinary cats I have ever come across. If you are reading this, you probably know something about this amazing breed but if you would like to read more, then go to the Links page.

Having read about this breed, descended from the Asian Leopard Cat with a glittered and rosetted coat and fascinated by water I knew I had to own one. So I started looking for a Bengal kitten. I was very fortunate to meet Connie and Stuart Henderson of Zawadi Bengals who not only bred my first beautiful girl, Zawadi Norah Jones but have taught me so much, and have been so generous with their time and friendship.

I chose my prefix “Wothorpe” as it is the name of a fantastic house we once lived in and where I had my first cat. It is associated with lots of happy childhood memories.
