My Philosophy

SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL

I am a real country girl with a wealth of experience which I am happy to share with you. I have a natural empathy with animals and because I am a small breeder, all my cats and kittens get my undivided attention. Because the kittens are born and reared in the home they are well socialized and handled from day one.

MAKING YOU FEEL SPECIAL

From your first enquiry to the day you take your kitten home with you I will try to make it a happy and stress free experience for you. When I was a Registrar I always tried to make the couple I was marrying feel really special and give them a warm and personal ceremony to make their day as happy and memorable as possible. I will do all that I can to ensure that owning a Wothorpe kitten is a really special experience for you. I will welcome photographs and progress reports to include on the “Wothorpe Times” page

FINDING THE RIGHT HOME

Although I breed some cats which are capable of winning shows at the highest level it is even more important to me that kittens are placed in loving homes where they will be cherished pets and have long and happy lives as part of your family. If you have any worries or concerns I will always be here to help, whether it be guiding you through your first show or laughing with you at your kitten’s latest antics. Bengals do the funniest things, usually water related!

CHOOSING YOUR WOTHORPE KITTEN

When you come to my home to meet the Wothorpe cats and kittens, you will be given plenty of time to play quietly with the kittens in a clean, calm environment before picking the one you have fallen in love with. I will try to answer all the questions which I am sure you will want to ask before making such a big decision. Kittens can be viewed when they are very tiny and you will be welcome to visit and bond with your new baby during the 13 weeks that it is growing up.

CODES OF CONDUCT

I have chosen to register my prefix with the GCCF and TICA and am a member of all three of the UK breed clubs. As such I am governed by their codes of conduct and you can be sure that your kitten will be properly registered and you will receive a full pedigree, the correct registration paperwork and insurance cover note with your kitten.

MY BREEDING PROGRAMME

I am a strong believer in breeding “quality” from “quality” so my guiding principle whenever embarking on a breeding programme is to start with the very best foundation stock and then aim to improve it. I have chosen breeding queens for Wothorpe with classic Bengal bloodlines and will ensure that they are never inbred. Studs are chosen for type and temperament and to replicate the wonderful attributes of the Asian Leopard Cat, the origin of the Bengal Breed.

QUALITY FOOD

Wothorpe cats and kittens are fed only the very best foods. I try to choose brands with very little cereal filler which is not a natural food for cats. If you put rubbish in, you will get rubbish out! And talking of rubbish, in the litter trays I use Everclean Heavy Duty clumping litter, a five star product to ensure health and cleanliness for my cats and kittens.

PLAYTIME

To keep my cats amused and give them plenty of opportunity for play and exercise, I have indoor cat trees from Kelven and Russell Hardy Designs. I have found both these makes to be very sturdy and well made and able to stand up to constant abuse from athletic Bengals. They also have plenty of toys although they often find a cardboard tube or ping pong ball much more fascinating.

AND FINALLY

I believe that every breeder has a duty to respect the standards of the breed and try to produce kittens demonstrating the very best and most desirable characteristics.

Although my girls are breeding queens they are first and foremost much loved pets. When you make the commitment to share your home with a pet, that animal is totally reliant on you for its quality of life. I believe that all animals deserve the best you can give them. There is no substitute for time and love and whatever you give to them will be repaid a thousand times over for many years to come.

Wothorpe cats are bred for quality, type and temperament and are raised in the home with lots of love and cuddles.
